Acting on a tip-off, Palwal police's anti-vehicle theft team today nabbed a thief who has stolen at least five motorbikes in last few days.
The team got a tip-off yesterday that one Hafiz, son of Majid, resident of village Punhana in district Mewat is involved in the trade of stolen motorbikes.
It was informed that he would be going to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh to sell a motorcycle via Nuh-Mindkola road. On the basis of this information, ASI Mohammad Yasir placed barricades on that road.
After some time a youth was seen driving a Motorcycle CD Deluxe coming from Nuh. On being signaled to stop, he tried to turn and return towards Nuh. However, he failed and was nabbed by the police team.
On interrogation, he was identified as Hafiz. No papers of the motorcycle were found with him. Eventually, he admitted that he has stolen the vehicle from Firozpur Jhirka and also confirmed that he has stored five more bikes at his village Badli.
A case was registered against Hafiz at Police Station Palwal city under IPC sections 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly).
Apart from the bike he was riding five other bikes were recovered on his identification, police said.
Hafiz has been arrested, produced in court and sent to Palwal Jail, informed ASI Sanjay.
