The chairman of the Uttar Pradesh legislative council has summoned Pilibhit district superintendent of police (SP) tomorrow to explain his stand on a matter pertaining to breach of privilege.
Chairman Ramesh Yadav summoned SP Balendu Bhushan Singh after Samajwadi Party MLC Shatrudra Prakash raised the matter. Prakash said he had called Singh last Tuesday, but was informed that the SP had gone somewhere with District Magistrate Akhilesh Mishra.
The MLC alleged that when he called up Mishra to give the phone to the SP, Singh he did not speak. "This amounts to breach of privilege of a member of legislative council and the entire House," Prakash said, adding that the SP should be summoned and cross-questioned.
Dinesh Chandra (BSP), Deepak Singh (Congress), Ashish Kumar (Apna Dal-S) and Devendra Pratap (BJP) supported Prakash.
Yadav then issued orders that Singh be present before the House tomorrow at 1.00 pm and explain his stand.
