An assistant police sub-inspector was caught red-handed today by the Lokayukta police, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 for settling a dispute, a police official said.
"Kundanpur police post in-charge assistant police sub-inspector Ajabsingh Pal was caught based on the complaint of a tribal Nabbu Singh Damor, who is a resident of Dongari village," Lokayukta police inspector Yuvaraj Singh said.
The Lokayukta police official said that Damor had a dispute with one of his relatives over farmland and both of them went to the Kundanpur police post at Ranapur police station with their complaints on September 19.
After this, the assistant police sub-inspector called Damor and allegedly asked him for a bribe, failing which Damor would be booked, the Lokayukta police official said.
Allegedly, he also assured Damor that if he paid the bribe, a compromise could be reached with signatures of both parties involved in the dispute, the Lokayukta police official said.
Damor lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police which caught the assistant police sub-inspector red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on, the Lokayukta police official said.
