Police probing all angles in jewellery showroom burglary case

Investigations into the burglary case at a jewellery shop at Panjagutta area here has revealed that 15.5 kg of gold ornaments and colour stones worth Rs 5.9 crore was stolen, the police said here today, even as it launched a probe into all other angles.
According to a senior police officer, the stock in the showroom has been checked minutely. A statistical analysis of gold ornaments and other valuables found that gold ornaments and colour stones weighing 15.5 kg was stolen during the early hours of Saturday.
"Investigations revealed that, 15.5 kg of ornaments and colour stones were stolen from the jewellery showroom and not 30 kg ornaments as reported earlier," the police officer said, adding that jewellery shop officials have also given this fact in writing.
Yesterday, a jewellery showroom offcial had complained that 30 kg gold ornaments and colour stones worth Rs 23 crore were stolen.
The police also said here today that it is verifying footage from CCTV cameras installed inside the showroom as well as CCTV footage obtained from outside the showroom, besides also investigating all angles, including the possibility of some inter-state gang being behind the incident.
Earlier, Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma had said that special teams formed by the Central Crime Station were probing the case.
