There was an attempt to murder the 16-year-old visually challenged girl by slitting her throat at Puhundi village under Jarada police station limit yesterday.
The doctors who examined the victim at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here categorically said there was "no signs of rape", said additional superintendent of police (Berhampur) Trinath Patel.
He along with some senior police officers was in the village for the second day today for investigation of the incident.
"We are still clueless about the miscreants" he said.

The victim, a 16-year old student of Class VII in the Blind School here was found on the backside of her house in a pool of blood by her mother on early morning of Tuesday and rushed to the community health centre (CHC) Patrapur from where she was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
The victim was not able to speak as her vocal cord was affected in the attack, he said.
In the early morning, when her mother could not locate her, she rushed to search for her and found her on the backside of the home lying in a pool of blood.
