Police searching areas around Agra for kidnapped student

Police teams have fanned out to areas around Agra to trace the whereabouts of a final year engineering student who is reported to have been kidnapped for ransom while he was on his way from his lodging in Agra to Hindustan Engineering College at Farah in Mathura district on September 13.
According to a report lodged with the Sikandra (Agra) police by the father of the boy, Shivam was residing at Kakretha near Sikandra (Agra) and did not reach his college after leaving for it by bus on the morning at September 13.
His classmates informed the father about his absence in the college. The following day, Shivam's father received a call in which the speaker said that Shivam had been abducted and he would be released if a ransom of Rs 1 crore was paid.
Subsequently, the amount of the ransom was raised to Rs 5 crore. The kidnappers also threatened the father that if the matter was reported to the police, the boy would be murdered.
On the basis of the FIR, police are searching for missing the boy, officials said today.
