TMC Office Manager Venkatrama Raja and some party functionaries were present when the congress workers arrived leading to tension.
However, police pacified both groups and they dispersed.
There was a dispute between the two groups over the ownership of the Nehru Bhavanam building where the TMC office is located now.
A meeting of TMC and Congress functionaries would be held tomorrow to find a solution, officials said.
