Police seeks legal action against ANVC-B for spreading rumours

Meghalaya police today sought legal actions against the leaders of the break away faction of the Achik National Volunteer Council militants, the ANVC-B, for spreading rumours that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma had ordered a 'shoot at sight' against its cadres.
"The CID today filed an application before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate for further investigation into the recent allegation made by the breakaway faction of ANVC, the ANVC-B against the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma," a police PRO said in a statement.
"After appropriate orders from the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, the State CID department would initiate appropriate legal action against the ANVC-B Chairman Rimpu Marak and its Political Secretary Doang Shira," it said.
According to official, the ANVC-B statements have attracted the penal provisions of Section 505 IPC which is with regards to conducting to public mischief.
The ANVC-B is one of the two rebel outfits active in western Meghalaya who had signed a draft peace pact with the Centre and the state.
