Police seizes 525 gm of stolen jewellery; solves theft cases

Thane Police Commissionerate crime branch personnel raided the Pirani Pada locality and arrested a criminal who was allegedly involved in chain snatching, police sources said here today.
DCP Parag Manere of the Crime Branch told reporters that that police had seized 525 gm of gold jewellery and a gold biscuit from Jaffar Ali Babar Jaffri (32) who has been arrested.
The seizure has been valued at around Rs 13.65 lakh he said, adding that a total of 23 theft cases had been detected after the arrest.
ACP Crime Bharat Shelke who also addressed reporters said that the raid was conducted by personnel from Ulhasnagar and Kalyan units of the crime branch. Thefts of jewellery have been registered at police stations from these two zones, he said.

He said that the police is probing associates of the arrested and receivers of stolen goods.
Jaffri's modus operandi is also being probed he said, adding that the police hoped to nab others who could also be inoveld in the crime.
