Police sepoy caught taking bribe, let off on bail

A police sepoy was allegedly caught taking bribe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the district and was later released on bail, police said.
Anil Zunzarrao, posted at the Varangaon police station here, was on Friday trapped while accepting bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from a complainant, D D Gavare of the ACB said.
The complainant, hailing from Buldhana district, was having a property dispute with the Varangaon police, the inquiry into which was delegated to Zunzarrao. He asked the aggrieved man to pay Rs 10,000 as bribe in the matter or face the consequences, the official said.
The complainant, who was unwilling to shell out the money, managed to reduce the sum to Rs 5,000 and also approached the district ACB.

A trap was laid and the cop was caught while accepting the bribe at the police station, he said.
The accused was granted bail on Saturday by a local court on the bond of Rs 25,000, police said.
