Delhi Police today claimed to have solved the sensational Paschim Vihar robbery case in which Rs 90 lakhs of a famous jewellery shop were looted last month, by arresting three accused and recovering Rs 28.25 lakh from them.
The accused Nitin Sood, 27, Sandip, 28 and Brijesh, 26, were arrested near Janak Cinema in Janak Puri yesterday, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Police.
Two gold chains and car used in the robbery have been recovered, apart from Rs 28.25 lakh of the looted money. Two other accused Neeraj and Deepak who are ex-employees of the jewellery shop are absconding, he said.
Two employees of Shagun Jewellers on June 29 were going to deposit Rs 90 lakh in a bank. They were intercepted by the accused near JK Apartments in Paschim Vihar and the bag carrying the cash was looted. An FIR in the robbery was registered at Paschim Vihar police station.
Interrogation of accused revealed that they had assembled on the day of robbery at Kali Mandir in Sagarpur to execute their plan. Deepak was given the role of a spotter to signal the movement of cash from jewellery shop.
Accused Nitin was driving the car which he deliberately touched with the motor cycle of employees of jewellery shop. Brijesh picked up a quarrel with them and snatched the bag carrying money.
The arrested accused also revealed that the conspiracy was hatched by Neeraj and Deepak, who were ex-employees of Shagun Jewellers. Neeraj used to work as a driver and Deepak as a salesman and knew about movement of heavy cash from showroom to bank.
Neeraj has a criminal background and he was involved earlier in cases of attempt to murder and robbery.
