Police start probe into sodomy case

The police today started investigations into the alleged sodomy of an 11-year-old Nigerian student by a man on the premises of a private school here, an official said today.
The police said that a complaint was lodged yesterday at the Surajpur police station and the accused was booked for unnatural offence.
"The school management has extended its support in the investigation. The accused, Ashok Mishra, was arrested yesterday and was sent to jail today. He was an administrative assistant with the school," SHO Surajpur Girish Kumar Kotiya said.
The police have inspected the classroom of the student, which is on the second floor of the school. The washroom where the boy was allegedly sodomised is also on the same floor, he said.
"Though CCTV cameras are installed outside the girl's toilets, but there were no camera outside the boy's washroom," he said.
The school management has suspended the accused and ordered an internal inquiry. He has been working there for the last five years, the SHO said.

The school management said that nobody, including the victim, had registered a complaint against the accused, he said
"We have extended full support to the police. We have nothing to hide. We want truth to be revealed. We have ordered internal inquiry," Kaushalya World School principal Mukta Mishra said.
The District Inspector of School (DIOS), P K Upadhyay, said, "A team of district officials has also visited the school and conducted an inspection. The transport department has seized three school buses as their certificates had expired."
The DIOS said that school managements here had been given time till September 20 to install CCTV cameras and the deadline was later extended to a fortnight.
"Now inspections are being conducted at schools. So far 10 schools in the district have been conducted," Upadhyay said.
