"Police stations in the state are turning into center of murders in Akhilesh regime, which it claims to be cases of suicide," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said while talking to reporters here.
He claimed that a number of custodial deaths have taken place in the recent past.
"Whether its Sitapur or Barabanki, instead of giving assurances, the CM should have taken stern action," he said.
Pathak said that Barabanki police, which was already in dock for 'immolating' a woman, was again under scanner following suspicious death of a Dalit youth inside lockup yesterday.
"BJP demands that instead of overlooking such incidents the government should take stern action against the guilty policemen," he added.
