Police step up security of girl students in Delhi University

Deployment of additional police, anti eve-teasing teams and emergency response vehicles are some of the fresh steps taken for the safety and security of girl students in Delhi University, the Delhi Police has told the Home Ministry.
In a report submitted to the Home Ministry, the Delhi Police said a number of steps have been taken for safety and security of girls students in the varsity's campuses.
Police pickets have been deployed at strategic points to prevent and detect crime in the campuses, Emergency Response Vehicles and Quick Response Teams have been deployed for safety and security of students, particularly girls.
Anti eve-teasing teams are deployed at various points in the campuses of Delhi University to take action against eve teasers and prevent girl students from sexual harassment or molestation, according to the report.
CCTV cameras have been installed for safety and security of students including girl students as well as well for surveillance over criminals in the campuses.
Self defence training programmes in Delhi University campuses are organised to prepare girl students to safeguard themselves in case of any emergency.

Mobile and foot patrolling have been intensified in the campuses of the university to inculcate the feeling of safety and security among the students.
Complaint boxes have been fixed at various collages and hostels in the campuses.
Besides, a 24-hour women helpline of Delhi Police i.E. 1091 is also functioning to facilitate the women complainants in the hour of need, the report said.
