Police take action against 4,780 land encroachment cases

There have been 95,506 cases of unauthorised constructions and land encroachment in the national capital since 2010 and Delhi Police has taken action in 4,780 cases so far, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Whenever any case of unauthorised construction and land encroachment is noticed, Delhi Police informs the land-owning agencies - Delhi Municipal Corporations (DMCs) and New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) - which take action as per the law with the assistance of Delhi Police, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran said in a written reply to a query.
In 2010, intimations were sent in 20,152 such cases by the Delhi Police out of which action was taken in 568 cases. In 2011, of the 30,035 cases reported, action was taken in 427 cases. In 2012, the figure stood at 29,203 and action was taken in 494 cases.
In 2013, Delhi Police has reported 16,116 cases till July 15, of which action was initiated in 3,291 cases, Ramachandran said.
