A massive vehicle checking would be carried out on all street junctions of Hyderabad to detect drunken driving on New Year's Eve and to impose speed limits, the Hyderabad police said.
Addressing a press conference here today, City Police Commissioner B Shivdhar Reddy said that strict action would be taken against those driving vehicles in an inebriated condition tomorrow night and nobody would be allowed to consume liquor in public places.
He said organisers of various events at public places tomorrow should take police permission to use loud speakers and music system, but "obscene" dances and movies would be strictly prohibited.
Liquor should not be served without any valid license and permission from competent authorities and use of firearms has been strictly prohibited, he said.
Vehicles would not be permitted from tomorrow evening 4 pm on the beach road between Park Hotel and the Navy Coastal Battery area, while the flyover near Asilmetta will be closed from tomorrow evening, he said.
Severe action would be be initiated against eve teasers or those who outrage the modesty of women of any age.
Due to the efforts made by the police, the crime rate and accidents have come down in the city. In all, 26 murders were reported during the year, as against 38 reported last year, he said.
