At present, there is no helpline dedicated for the women in the district, who either now have to call 100 in case of emergency or approach the nearest police station for getting police help.
Ghaziabad police has sent a proposal of this project to the state government for getting approval, Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh said.
"We have sent a proposal to Uttar Pradesh government to get its approval. If we get government's nod, we will immediately start work on this project," Singh said.
Senior police officials, who are working on the helpline project, claimed that it would be very helpful for women residing in the district.
