The Thane police have rescued a teenage girl, hailing from West Bengal, who had reportedly been brought to Mumbai by her mother to do petty jobs.
The girl has been sent to her father, who had lodged a missing complaint at the local police station, a police officer said here today.
However, the Thane police have not register any case, since the father did not file any complaint against his wife.
Police said Swapan Das of Panapur in North 24-Parganas district of West Bengal had registered a complaint at Gopal Nagar police station on November 1, that his 13-year-old daughter studying in Class VIII was missing.
He had doubted that his wife who had been working as a waitress in Pune had taken the daughter along with her.
Accordingly, the West Bengal police got in touch with their Thane counterparts and finally the case was handed over to Bhiwandi Crime Unit officials who traced the missing girl.
Based on cellular phone tracking records, the girl was located in Pisavali, within the limits of the Manpada police station of Dombivili.
Police officials took the girl from her mother's custody and handed her over to her father who was satisfied with the police action by restoring his daughter and saving her from being put to hardship.
