The bomb exploded late yesterday outside a bank in el-Mahalla el-Kobra city of the governorate, a security source said.
Following the incident, ambulances rushed to the spot and took the injured to a nearby hospital.
The area was soon cordoned off by the security forces.
It was not immediately known that who planted the bomb in the area as further investigations were underway.
Egypt has witnessed many violent attacks by militants since the January 2011 revolution that toppled ex-president Hosni Mubarak.

Over 500 security personnel have been reported killed since then.
In January, at least 32 people were killed and dozens others injured in simultaneous attacks that hit Al-Arish city in the restive North Sinai.
The military has launched security campaigns in the area, arrested suspects and demolished houses that belong to terrorists, including those facilitating tunnels leading to the Gaza Strip.
