Policeman suspended for dereliction of duty

A policeman has been suspended for allegedly delaying lodging of a report in an incident of clash between members of two communities, police said today.
"Kotwali Incharge Rajveer Singh has been suspended with immediate effect for delay in lodging the report. Section 144 of CrPC (Unlawful Assembly) has been imposed in the area," DIG Aligarh range Mohit Agarwal said.
On Monday, members belonging to two communities clashed with each other when a sweeper was thrashed following a dispute.
The dispute arose between the two communities after the cricket match. Following the feud, the groups indulged in brick batting, cross firing and hurled crude bombs after which police resorted to lathicharge to control the situation, police said.
An FIR was lodged at Kotwali police station in this regard and three persons were arrested.
The DIG today said that National Security Act has been invoked on arrested persons.
He said that son of a hotel owner has been caught firing on camera and a reward of Rs 5,000 has been announced for any information being provided about his whereabouts.
District Magistrate Shameem Ahmad said that there is peace in the city and people are being appealed to maintain harmony.
