A policy to transport iron ore dumps outside and within mining leases in Goa would be ready by October, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Tuesday.
Sawant held a meeting on the mining issue here in which Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo and BJP MLA Pravin Zantye were present, along with panchayat and municipal council representatives from Quepem, Sanguem, Sattari, Dharbandora and Bicholim talukas.
Mining in Goa came to a standstill in March last year after the Supreme Court quashed 88 leases and banned the extraction of fresh ore.
"Once the dump policy is ready, we can e-auction them and some activity in the mining sector will start. A clarity on resumption of mining will be there in the next one month. I have appointed experts to guide the government," he told PTI.
Sawant said a high-level meeting on mining would be held in Delhi soon.
