Ramesh, who was here to unfurl the national tri-colour on Republic Day yesterday at Saranda forest, told PTI, "Jharkhand has been blessed with everything by nature. But the reasons behind ruining of Jharkhand are political interference and administrative weakness. Without eliminating these, it is difficult to improve the situation."

The union minister said during implementation of schemes linked to his ministry, including MNREGA in Jharkhand, he had noticed that ministers of state were interfering continuously.

"I personally asked one of the ministers not to interfere with allocation and implementation of schemes. When he did not stop doing it, I complained to his party leader," he said.

"When still things did not work out, I wrote a strong letter to Chief Minister and threatened to stop the funds allocated by central government for schemes pertaining to rural employment and development," Ramesh said.

He said in Jharkhand, there is political interference in almost all central schemes due to which implementation does not take place properly and public is deprived of benefits.

The Union Minister said it is not necessary that if a state is blessed with mineral and other natural resources, its citizens will prosper. The citizens' prosperity depends upon the state's administration and government, he asserted.

Ramesh said Jharkhand's lax administrative setup was responsible to a large extent for the problems faced by the state's residents. (MORE)
