The Delhi Police today said that they had to detain political leaders and their supporters as they were "disturbing" medical services at RML Hospital, refuting allegations that family members of ex-serviceman Ram Singh Grewal were manhandled by their personnel.
"We detained political leaders because they and their supporters were hampering medical services at RML hospital. Based on a complaint from hospital's deputy director, we requested them not to gather at hospital premises.
"As they did not relent, we had to detain them," Rajan Bhagat, Delhi Police's spokesperson said.
Bhagat said that police has released all political leaders including Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and their supporters who were detained earlier in the day.
He said that family members of Ram Singh Grewal are still in a state of shock that's why police did allow anyone to meet them.
Asked about allegations of Grewal's son that he was manhandled by police personnel, Bhagat refuted it.

"Police has not manhandled anyone from Grewal's family members. If there is anything like that, we will examine the matter," he said.
He further said that police is in touch with family members who were cooperating with police in the investigation.
According to police, Grewal had come to Delhi with three of his friends from Bhiwani in the intervening night of October 31 and November 1.
"Yesterday, Grewal had consumed poisonous tablets. One of his friends called 100 and police personnel immediately took him to RML hospital. Unfortunately, he died after few hours," police said.
