Politicos and various religious leaders today paid rich tributes to spiritual guru Swami Dayanand Saraswati at a 'shraddhanjali' organised by Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha, founded by him.
Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, BJP vice president Shyam Jaju, senior party leaders Subramanian Swamy and Balbir Punj, VHP general secretary Champat Rai, Jain religious leader Acharya Lokesh Muni, chief imam of All India Imam Organisation Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, former Coal India chairman M P Narayanan were among those who paid homage to the Vedanta Guru, who passed away in September.
"It is hard to believe that Swamiji is not present here in physical form. He used to be omnipresent. Because he did so much for each one of us, the experiences of associations with him are so profound.
"I am sure he will continue to inspire us by his work and I am sure, each one of us will carry his legacy forward. That is the only way we can pay a tribute to him. I was fortunate to have been blessed by him on many occasions," Prabhu said during the event.
The 87-year-old ascetic, a well-known Vedanta scholar, passed away on September 23 at his ashram in Sheeshamjhadi in Rishikesh.
