Himachal Pradesh governor Acharya Devvrat today said "there was no place for politics" in Universities, as it polluted the educational environment and regular incidents of strikes at the university level created a bad impression.
"Any educational institution could attain new heights, provided all concerned people joined hand, demonstrated strong will power and worked honestly besides sharing responsibility and accountability," he said while presiding over the 27th Annual Court meeting of Himachal Pradesh University here.
He said the universities were the centres of higher learning and human development, but unfortunately political activities in such institutions pollute the educational environment and regular incidents of strikes at the university level created a bad impression.

The governor stressed the need to work with commitment and diligence for social reforms and provide quality education to the young generation and make them capable in every respect.
He said that in the present era of "cut-throat" competition and science and technology, there was need for introspection and work analysis adding that plans should be made at the department level.
