Harjit Singh, polling agent of SAD (Badal), died outside a booth in Paschim Vihar under Punjabi Bagh area, with eye- witnesses claiming that some people got into a verbal spat with Harjit which later turn violent.
Denying any role, SAD (Delhi) chief Paramjit Singh Sarna said: "Harjit died a natural death. My party supporters didn't have any role in it. Truth will come out in the post-mortem report. They are just trying to malign my party's image as their defeat is sure."
However, SAD (Badal) President Jathedar Manjit Singh alleged that Harjit was beaten up and died of heart attack.
In the polls to 45 wards, there were 265 candidates in the fray out of which four were women. Counting of votes will take place on January 30.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) representative and current president Paramjit Singh Sarna and Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal (SAD-B) representative Majinder Singh Sirsa are locked in a direct contest this year.
"Polling till 5pm was 42.28 per cent, in which men voting share was 42.13 per cent and female vote share was 42.44 per cent. 73.60 per cent voting was recorded in Karampura ward," Gurudwara elections Director G P Singh said.

Bhupinder Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) was elected unopposed from ward number 30.
Singh added that video recording was done to prevent any attempt to tamper the ballot-boxes. Out of 549 polling booths, 165 were declared 'sensitive' and 55 were 'most sensitive'.
Other than SAD(Delhi) and SAD (Badal), Kendriya Guru Singh Sabha and Dashmesh Seva Society are also fighting the election.
DSGMC, an autonomous organisation, comprises of 51 members -- 46 elected and five nominated.
The body manages Sikh shrines, various educational institutions, hospitals, old-age homes, libraries and other charitable institutions in the national capital.
