A group of men allegedly tried to forcefully enter a polling station at west Delhi's Vikaspuri area during the MCD by-polls today.
The incident took place around 5.15 PM when the sector officer and other presiding officers of a booth in Vikas Nagar ward of Vikaspuri called up police, complaining that associates of the BJP candidate in the area were trying to enter the poll station forcefully, a senior police official said.
Police officials already present at the spot asked for reinforcement.
Soon, senior officials rushed there to take stock of the situation.
The BJP candidate told police that the agitation started when an independent candidate there allegedly attacked his associates and whipped out a gun which, he claimed, the poll station officials did not see.
Later, two police complaints were lodged -- One on the basis of the statement of the sector officer and the other was by the BJP candidate.
