Poll officials have seized unaccounted Rs 7.85 lakh cash from a car in south Mumbai in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
A flying squad Friday checked the car and seized the cash from one Vatsal Dharmesh Shah, who could not give satisfactory reply to why he was carrying the cash, a senior official said Saturday.
A case has been registered with V P police station, he said.
The model code of conduct for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections came into effect on March 10, when the Election Commission announced the poll schedule.
All six Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai vote on April 29.
In Mumbai South constituency, Shiv Sena sitting MP Arvind Sawant is in the fray against Mumbai Congress president Milind Deora.
