In a letter to the BMC chief, the SEC said it has taken cognisance of a plea by defeated BJP candidate from the ward Nisha Parulekar-Bangera that Shiv Sena's Madhuri Yogesh Bhoir, who won from ward 25, had submitted a false affidavit to the poll authorities.
Bangera alleged that Bhoir did not disclose particulars of vehicle and details of some other property owned by her.
SEC said Mehta should act (against Bhoir) as per provisions of a 2013 order of the Commission, which mandates action against a candidate who submits false information to poll authorities.
