Polls for six Maharashtra MLC seats on November 19

The biennial election for six seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Council from as many local bodies will be held on November 19.
The six candidates will be elected from the local governing bodies where the elected corporators of municipal corporations and councils will vote. The elected members will have a tenure of six years, stated an Election Commission (EC) release today.
Gurumukh Das Jagwani, currently representing the Jalgaon local authorities constituency, is the lone BJP face for these six seats.
Amarnath Rajurkar from Nanded, a close aide of Congress' state unit chief Ashok Chavan, is likely to get the party ticket again.

The remaining four seats are currently represented by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
While the Satara-cum-Sangli seat is represented by Prabhakar Gharge, Yavatmal is represented by Sandip Bajoriya, Pune by Anil Bhosale and Bhandara-cum-Gondia by Rajendra Jain.
The notification for the polls will be issued on October 26. The candidates will have to file their nomination papers by November 2 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is November 5.
Counting of votes will be taken up on November 22.
