Pondy CM urges Modi to sanction Rs 382.45 cr central aid

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sanction Rs 382.45 crore aid to the Union Territory to take up relief and rehabilitation works in flood affected areas.
The Chief Minister brought to the PM's notice the havoc caused by the flood in Puducherry and Karaikal (an enclave of the UT in Andhra Pradesh) and urged him to sanction the amount for relief and rehabilitation works.
Rangasamy, now in Delhi, also requested the Prime Minister to release Rs 70 crore due under 'Thane Cyclone Relief' from the Centre, a release from the CM's office said.
He also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him of the situation in the Union Territory.
Besides, he met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu and Health Minister J P Nadda, the release said.
The CM was accompanied by Members of Parliament from Puducherry R Radhakrishnan (Lok Sabha) and N Gokulakrishnan (Rajya Sabha).
