It has been framed on the lines of the current policy of the Centre, after reviewing the existing one evolved and implemented in 2008, Information and Technology Joint Secretary A S Sivakumar said in a notification.
Apart from eyeing more investments in the sector, the policy also aims at offering more opportunities to a large number of educated youth and create a pool of highly skilled professionals on par with the best in the country, it said.
The government intends "to establish Puducherry as a preferred destination for investment in IT sector and IT-enabled services industries and to achieve the objectives of the flagship digital India programme and to achieve highest digital literacy."
The notification said that an eight-member high level committee headed by the Chief Minister has been formed to attract new investments in the IT sector and to retain the existing IT establishments.
