Jockey Horen Tai from Mising ethnic community rode saddleless on Shiv Shankar who galloped at full speed to win the ONGC Purse-Governor's Cup on the final day of the three-day traditional Jorhat Horse Races yesterday.
Ajay Kumar Yadav, IGP of Jorhat sector (operations) of the CRPF, handed over the Governor's Cup with a memento and cheque to the winning pony's jockey and praised the organizers for keeping up the traditional Jorhat Races alive for so long.
Of the six other events, Oil India Ltd Purse was won by pony Lovely and jockey Biswajit Doley, pony Loplopi and jockey Bimal Tanu, pony Shiva and jockey Bikash Tai.
The Amguri India Ltd and Goodrick Group Ltd Purse prize was bagged by pony Babu with jockey Bhaiti Tai, pony Ram Prasad and jockey Lakhikanta Kutum, pony Kankan with jockey Bhaiti Tai.

The Kaziranga University Purse 1st prize was won by pony Powali with jockey Niranjan Panging, 2nd by pony Sindu with jockey Kanai Doley and 3rd by pony Punsa with jockey Keshab Tai.
Paron India Private India Ltd Purse was taken by pony Bahubali with jockey Biren Tai, pony Mompi with jockey Bidyanath Tai and pony Dhonti with jockey Prem Mili.
