Temple officials said the "Theerthavari Mandapam" and the "Kodungai", a sun shade like extension, of the 16-Pillar Mandapam collapsed yesterday due to continuous rains and water seepage.
The front portion of Sri Jaya Veera Anjaneyar mandapam, a Maratha period sub temple of famous Kumbeswarar temple, also collapsed, they said.
Assistant Commissioner of HR and CE, Mariappan said government allocated Rs 20 lakh to renovate the 16 Shodasa Lingam temples on the banks of the Mahaamaham tank. The floor around the temple is being paved with granite at a cost of Rs 72 lakh, he said.
