The former Miss India said on the small screen actresses with sharp features are often offered the bad woman role.
"I am playing a positive role (Mihika) first time on 'Ye Hai Mohabbatein' and I am finding it challenging. I have always played negative roles and for my character on 'Yeh Hai...' I have to tone down a lot.
"I am getting more love and recognition for this role. I feel positive characters have more reach than the negative roles," she told PTI.
"When I entered the TV industry from modelling, I was told actresses with sharp features can only play negative roles be it Urvashi Dholakia or Kamya Punjabi...

"But one thing I have noticed that in real life they are most beautiful human beings from inside as well as outside," she said.
On the Star Plus' show, the actress plays a strong-headed, independent South Indian girl, who in order to save the her fiance from imprisonment marries the villain (Ashok).
Asked how much does she resemble with her role in real life, Mihika, who is soon going to tie the knot with offscreen boyfriend Mayank Gandhi, said, "My character on the show is fool when it comes to love. I will never leave my love and marry somebody whom I don't love. But I do identify with rest of my part. My mother is a South Indian and father is a Punjabi. I love my family and always ready to make any sacrifice for them."
"My character on the show will take a progression. I will be reconciling with my sister Ishita. It will be a crucial plot as the other family members will also get to know that why I married Ashok. The truth will come out and I hope people will like the drama," she said.
Apart from daily soaps, the model-actress is also up for reality shows.
"I would love to be in a reality show. I don't mind if I get the chance to be in 'Bigg Boss'," she said.
