The post-mortem report of gangster Anandpal Singh, who was killed in a police encounter, cannot be provided to any third party under the Right to Information Act in absence of any larger public interest, Rajasthan Information Commission has said in an order.
The commission in its decision said that names of doctors who conductied the post-mortem also cannot be made public under the RTI Act.
State Information Commissioner Ashutosh Sharma, in the order, said the post-mortem report had personal information regarding family members of the slain gangster as well as police, court and doctors.
The information cannot be revealed under the RTI Act to any third party without documenting any larger public interest. Names of doctors conducting post-mortem of the gangster cannot be provided due to security reasons, the commissioner said.
Appellant Ajit Singh, resident of city's C-Scheme area, had sought information about the names of doctors who conducted the post-mortem and a copy of the report.
After the information was denied Singh had appealed before the State Information Commission.

Singh said the police encounter had created a nation-wide furore and the information should be provided for public interest.
However, the SIC in its decision said the information can be provided to family members of the deceased and the copy of post-mortem report was provided the slain gangster's wife. Appellant was unable to prove any public interest so information cannot be provided, it said.
