Postal dept to start core banking services in J&K

The postal service department will start core banking services across Jammu and Kashmir with 13 of its head post offices in the state expected to begin banking facilities in the next three months.
"We will start core banking service in the state and the service will start functioning in the next three to four months," chief postmaster general of J&K circle Chandra Prakash told reporters here today.
He said the department will also install Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in J&K where the customers will get all the banking facilities being provided by other banks.
"India Post has been serving all across the country since more than 150 years through its various network of over 1,55,000 post offices, which is largest in the world.
"To cater to the needs of the customers the department of posts is providing a spectrum of services which include, mail, parcel and related services, including money orders, post office saving bank, postal life insurance etc," Prakash said.
He said that the services at the post offices were being modernised with computerised booking of mails and tracking system.
