Postman booked for selling mails to newspaper vendor

A postman has been booked for selling an entire day's mails to a newspaper vendor instead of delivering them to citizens, police said today.
Postman Vasant Dunda Vishe from Mugaon of Sahapur sold four bags containing mails of September 3 to a newspaper vendor Suleman Hamid Ullah Khan of Shenva, also from the same taluka, said Sachin Saste, API Khinavali police station.
The duo has been booked under sections 406, 409 and 34 of the IPC and also section 52 of the Indian Postal Act of 1898, the officer said.
While Khan has been arrested, an enquiry launched by the postal department against the accused is also on, he said.
The department started the enquiry after people complained of non receipt of their mails.
The bags containing the mails were of Katemanivali post office of Kalyan.
