Passengers leaving for various international destinations faced unexpected hardships at the Anna International terminal here early today as power failure delayed several flights.
"There was a sudden power failure around 11pm on June 15 at Chennai Airport. Due to this three airlines were affected. (Hong Kong bound) Cathay Pacific was delayed by 65 minutes, (Frankfurt bound) Lufthansa by 28 minutes and (Dubai-bound) Emirates by 45 minutes," a statement said.
Airport officials said due to the power cut, conveyor belts used to transport baggage and elevators at the airport did not function forcing manual intervention.
Normalcy was restored around 7.30am, they said.
