Delhi's peak power demand this winter is expected to be around 4,500 MW-4,600 MW and power discoms are gearing up to ensure adequate electricity availability during this period.
"Besides making long-term arrangements, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) are using advanced techniques like banking and backdown to dispose of surplus power and make arrangements to get power during summer months," an official statement said.
"In case of any unforeseeable contingency, BSES discoms will buy short-term power from the exchange. To accurately forecast the power demand and hence reduce costs, the discoms are using an advanced forecasting solution," it added.
Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has also made arrangements for meeting a peak demand of approximately 1,300 MW this winter season.
