Power restoration worth Rs 62 cr completed in Vizag

East Godavari district superintendent engineer S Gangadhar here said today that electrical repair works worth Rs 62 crore have been done in Visakhapatnam, worst-effected by cyclone HudHud that hit the Andhra coast early last month.
Gangadhar, addressing a press conference said that 3,500 staffers were engaged to expedite the work of power restoration in the cyclone-ravaged district.
Power supply has been restored and 2,83,636 service connections repaired in 491 villages of 24 mandals of Visakhapatnam district, he said.
The official said that during the work, staffers of the electricity board in East Godavari tirelessly worked in the power restoration process in the neighbouring district.

"We are really thankful to people of our district, even though they faced some power failure, they never lodged complaint and extended their cooperation for Vizag," he added.
In East Godavari district, repair works worth Rs seven crore was undertaken in affected Thondagi, Tuni, Kotananduru areas, he said.
