Top officials from Bangladesh Power department met Indian representatives including DG of Central Electricity Authority (CEA), CMD Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd and OTPC General Manager.
A discussion on the transmission of power from the OTPC project at Palatana in South Tripura district was held in the meeting and reports were submitted to respective ministries for appropriate steps.
The meeting was the follow-up of an earlier one held between Secretaries of the Power Ministry of India and Bangladesh in Dhaka in April.
India agreed to supply 100 MW of power to Bangladesh from the 726 MW Palatana power project when it would be fully operational in few months time.
Bangladesh had allowed its waterways for carrying the over dimensional machines of Palatana power project.
Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar requested the Centre to sell 100 MW of power to Bangladesh as at least 200 MW of power would be surplus when the project would be fully operational.
