Explosive Device (IED) was recovered by security forces in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district today, official sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, personnel of the Army's Punjab Regiment recovered the bomb, weighing over two kilograms, from Puthimari Nagaon village.
The bomb was kept behind the house of a poor farmer.
It was later defused by bomb experts.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the state following intelligence reports of ULFA's anti-talk faction planning to create disturbances in the run-up to the Independence Day.
