The Peoples' Party of Arunachal (PPA) has asked for an all-party meeting with an open debate involving all stake holders to evolve a consensus on the urgent necessity of bringing Arunachal under Article 371 (A) and not under Article 371 (H).
Party President Nikh Kamin said in a statement today, "Unlike Nagaland and Mizoram which has control over their natural and cultural resources under article 371 (A) and 371 (G), the Arunachalees and their legislators do not own anything and have to act as puppets in the hands of their masters."
Kamin said the demand for autonomy for Mon or Patkai region and in recent times the demand for protection of indigenous culture, tradition and faith have their genesis in the fact that the state leaders have not fought for a very strong and effective Statehood Act.
"Although the Congress regime was in power for most of the years after the Statehood Act of 1987, the BJP too cannot wash of its hands as the party was in power for more than a tenure," he added.
