Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who chaired a high level meeting here today, underlined the need for ensuring round-the-clock power supply to consumers in the state without increasing tariff or putting any additional burden on consumers.
"A befitting mechanism in PPP mode can be mulled in this regard to begin in the twin capitals of Srinagar and Jammu," he said.
Omar viewed a presentation on the study made under the guidance of Planning Commission by Feedback Infra on feasibility of roping in PPP partners in distribution of electricity in Srinagar and Jammu.
"PPP participation, both in generation as well as distribution will be welcomed if it ensures increase in indigenous power generation and upgrade supply system without tariff increase," he said.
Presentation made by the representatives of Planning Commission and Feedback Infra would be duly considered by the departments concerned, he said.
A final blue print for rolling out the scheme would be discussed with all stakeholders and the state Cabinet, Omar added.
