Prabhu lays foundation stone of Rajpura-Bathinda project

Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today laid foundation stone of a railway doubling project, 16 limited height subways and dedicated the newly doubled Mansa-Bathinda rail line to the nation.
Besides, the Railway Minister also dedicated to the nation the new station building at Beas, new running room at Ludhiana, Food Plaza at Firozpur Station and inaugurated 5 Water Vending Machines at a ceremony here.
Prabhu laid the foundation stone for Rajpura-Bathinda doubling project.
He laid the foundation stone for 16 Limited Height subways on Ludhiana-Ambala, Jalandhar-Pathankot, Jalandhar- Firozpur, Beas-Goindwal, Bathinda Bypass Line and Dhuri- Bathinda line.
Rajpura to Bathinda is part of Rajpura Bathinda - Sriganganagar section of Ambala Division.
The Rajpura-Dhuri-Bathinda is a single line BG non electrified section.

Completion of the Doubling work of this 172 km long section being built at an estimated cost of Rs 1251.25 crore shall facilitate uninterrupted and smooth traffic operation as double line from Rajpura to Bathinda, an official release said here.
A number of important cities and industrial towns including Patiala and Bathinda, Fertilizer and thermal power plant, food grains loading points, educational hubs and military cantonments are located on the project section.
There has been 6.42 per cent per annum growth in the existing passenger traffic and the line capacity utilisation has reached 130 per cent, the release said.
Coal supply to thermal plants of Punjab and Rajasthan and
the new thermal plant Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL) near Saddasinghwala is mostly done via this route only, the release said.
To facilitate smooth rail traffic movement, Limited Height Subways have been sanction on different sections with an estimated cost of Rs 38.95 Crore, the release said.
A new station building at important religious centre of Beas, a food plaza for the convenience of travelling passengers at Firozpur station and five water vending machines at various platforms of Bathinda station for dispensing of clean and chilled drinking water were inaugurated.
Speaking on the occasion, the Railway Minister said that the Indian Railways would continue its efforts to extend greater connectivity in the State.
This project is envisaged to provide the industry, the agriculturists, the armed forces and the rail users in general a seamless connectivity in to the hinterlands and border districts of Punjab state, he said.
The Railways have envisaged a modernised India through the various development projects and have constantly progressed towards that goal through new thrusts and initiatives, he said.
Prabhu said that India will soon launch 200 kilometre per hour speed-train which is under centre's consideration and this train will also be given to Punjab.
He laid foundation stone of 7 ambitious railway projects
at a cost of Rs 2000 crore for Punjab from a one location Railway Ground Bathinda.
Prabhu said that the government is working to launch a Superfast train with a speed of 200 kilometre per hour and this train will run between Punjab and New Delhi.
Disclosing that Railway Ministry and States, in collaboration, were going to form a company, Prabhu said that this joint venture would further speed up the pace of Rail Development, Infrastructure and Investment in Railway Sector.
He said that the issue was under consideration with some states and would be finalised soon.
He said that this initiative was taken to make the states an active partner in railway projects and infrastructure building.
Prabhu also said that fastest train under Superfast category was also being unveiled.
This train would run at 200 kilometre per hour speed.
He also announced that Tejas and Humsafar trains would also be launched in the country, which will be of world class standards.
He said that these world class trains would also touch Punjab through different routes.
UDAY train will also be launched in the country, which will start in the night and reach the destination early morning.
Speaking about the annual rail budget for Punjab in UPA Government, Prabhu said that earlier it was Rs 224 crore.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government had increased this budget to Rs 700 crore by fixing annual increase.
Prabhu also announced to make Amritsar and Jalandhar Railway Stations world class by giving these stations a complete facelift.
He said the work on Jalandhar's railway station would be completed by the end of 2017 while the Amritsar project was being finalised in consultation with the Union Tourism Ministry.
