Pre-monsoon activity brings respite in Rajasthan

People in Rajasthan today heaved a sigh of relief as pre-monsoon activity brought low to moderate rains at some places, including Sawaimadhopur which recorded a maximum rainfall of 58 mm.
According to MeT office, pre-monsoon activity coupled with western disturbance (WD) caused low to moderate rains in Kota, Rawatbhata, Jaipur, Tonk, Bundi and Churu districts, he said.
This system would further strengthen in south-west of the state in the next six hours, it said, adding that the heatwave conditions abated and the mercury dipped sharply by one to four degree Celsius.
In the past 24 hours, Sriganganagar remained the hottest place with a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius while in the capital city Jaipur people woke up to low rainfall and experienced cloudy weather till mid day. The city recorded a rainfall of 2.8 mm.
Meanwhile Bundi recorded a maximum rainfall at 29 mm, followed by Vanasthali 6.0 mm, Bikaner, Kota, and Rawatbhata 1 to 2 mm, and Churu 0.2 mm.
Met Office, in a forecast, said mild showers may occur in parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
