Tbe husband of the woman Chandrani Saha (27) said his wife, who had been under the treatment of a leading gynaecologist in the region for months and had been suggested IVF method by the doctor, had to be admitted to the Jalpaiguri nursing home on July 18 for acute breathing problem and was shifted to a Siliguri private hospital as her condition worsened.
As she died at the Siliguri Hospital, Chandrani's body was brought back to the Jalpaiguri nursing home immediately and operated upon and the still-grown baby was found to have died, the husband Rajesh Saha said blaming the doctor and nursing home for the deaths.
To a question the CMOH said such operation needed permission from the district health authorities but prima facie no such consent had been sought by the nursing home to carry on the surgery.
