Pregnant woman found murdered

A woman in an advanced stage of pregnancy was found murdered at Budvel on the outskirts of the city, police said today.
The 35-year-old woman hailed from Karnataka and was a habitual drinker, police said, adding that the victim was nine-months pregnant.
"The victim had moved to Budvel along with her 5-year-old daughter from Raichur district of Karnataka around four months back following the death of her husband," said Mailaradevapalli police station Inspector, SN Jaweed.
The victim's daughter had witnessed the crime last night and it was her cries which brought some locals to their house who then alerted police.

Police said that "an unidentified person entered her house and strangled her last night" even as they added that the victim was reportedly involved in several illicit relationships.
Whether the woman was sexually assaulted before being murdered will be known only through the medical report, which is awaited, Jaweed said. A case of murder has been registered and a probe is on into the matter, police added.
