South Central Railway (SCR) today said it is launching a "premium" superfast special train between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam.
This is the first "premium" superfast train in SCR. The fully reserved service is aimed to meet the heavy demand for rail travel during holidays/busy season.
Premium trains were announced in the last Rail Budget. They are primarily targeted at passengers, who are willing to pay premium fare for confirmed berths and enhanced standards of service. There are no wait-listed passengers on them.
The first premium train (No. 02204) will leave at 23:00 hours on April 17 from Secunderabad and reach Visakhapatnam at 08:50 hours the next day, a SCR release said.
On return trip, the train (No. 02203) will depart from Visakhapatnam at 21:10 hours on April 20 and arrive at Secunderabad at 07:00 hours the next day.
The booking of tickets can be done only through IRCTC's portal, it said.
SCR plans to launch more such trains from Secunderabad to other long distance destinations in the coming weeks based on passenger response/demand, the release added.
